Carberry Tower Wedding – Michelle & Alan

Carberry Tower Wedding – Michelle & Alan

I was excited to be invited to photograph Michelle and and Alan’s beautiful wedding at Carberry Tower, situated just outside Edinburgh. When planning a wedding in Scotland you always have to have a contingency plan for rain as we have quite a lot of it but I don’t think even Michelle and Alan had planned on quite so much on their wedding day!  So, what do you do if it rains on your wedding day nearly all day?  Be like this happy couple and just embrace it and go with it!

Luckily Carberry Tower has some beautiful big room with most delicious light to accommodate any type of weather.  I joined Michelle and her bridesmaids during bridal prep and quickly got to work photographing all her pretty details. Michelle had chosen dried flowers for her bouquet and buttonholes, they added a beautiful element of texture and prettiness and the best bit of all is that they last so much longer than fresh flowers, a beautiful keepsake!

The rain was coming down pretty heavy when I met with Alan and the boys so we opted for some relaxed portraits in Carberry Tower’s Drawing Room before heading back to Michelle.  Michelle looked absolutely stunning in her Enzoani Instanbul Wedding dress from Emma Roy, the light in the Bridal Suite was just perfect to capture her before she went to meet her Groom.

A beautiful Humanist ceremony both personal and romantic, luckily there was a break in the weather and the happy couple walked out to a dried flower confetti tunnel with all their guests, followed by a drinks reception in the Drawing Room of Carberry Tower.  The marquee looked beautiful with a rustic and vintage theme, Michelle had carefully chosen all the details for their individual beauty and put use her own DIY skills together with the rustic dried floral arrangements.  Everything looked stunning and definitely represented their individual quirks and tastes.

Michelle and Alan were so lovely to work, I particularly enjoyed the relaxed and creative vibe and I loved the way they embraced the rain on their wedding day and luckily Carberry Tower with it’s sweeping tree lined drive made a great rain cover! Congratulations to you both, it was lovely being a part of your special day x

Waterfront at Archerfield Wedding – Sophia and James

Waterfront at Archerfield Wedding – Sophia and James!

If anyone ever asks me ‘what happens if it rains on my wedding day?’  I’ll show them Sophia and James beautiful Waterfront at Archerfield wedding.  Even the ducks came out to celebrate!

Archerfield House Waterfront Pavilion in North Berwick, is set in 28 acres of land looking out on to the Firth of Forth, it is a stunning wedding venue and one of my favourite venues, not only because of the stunning landscapes but is perfect for all weathers with a magnificent marquee atmosphere.

On the morning of the wedding, I met beautiful bride Sophia at the Marine Villa on the grounds of Archerfield. As I arrived, Sophia was right in the throws of bridal prep having her makeup done by super talented Lauren Gollan. I wandered around documenting the prep and all the stylish details, from her beautiful Caroline Castigliano dress, shoes and gorgeous flowers. While Sophia was getting her hair styled, she opened a lovely card from her soon to be husband along with a beautiful earrings and necklace set.

James and the boys were photographed in the Boat House and down at the Waterfront. Luckily, the sky was a brilliant blue and we captured some really lovely portrait shots, a mixture of formal and relaxed.

Back at the villa, Sophia, her four bridesmaids and two beautiful flower girls were putting together the final touches. Once perfected, we took to the sunshine to get some photographs of Sophia with her bridesmaids and her Dad, before heading off to the cathedral in Edinburgh.

The cathedral was the beautiful St Mary’s Cathedral in Palmerston Place located in the Westend of the city. The bridesmaids arrived in style in a Tesla Premium electric car, and Sophia followed with her dad in a Rolls Royce. The rain stayed off and the ceremony was lovely. Sophia and James exited as Mr and Mrs to a rose petal confetti tunnel, and we all headed back to Archerfield for the reception.

Arriving at Archerfield, we planned a shoot by the lake, but the weather had other ideas. Nevertheless, Sophia and James embraced the downpour, surrounded by the ducks, which made for some brilliant photos. Back inside, the marquee had been styled to perfection by Planet Flowers, we just loved all those stylish details and beautiful floral arrangements.

While the guests were enjoying the reception, we waited for breaks in the rain and darted outside for some romantic shots when the sun made an appearance. The Waterfront at Archerfield House makes for a stunning backdrop to the photos despite the on and off weather.

Sophia and James made their entrance for dinner to a wonderful confetti cannon before everyone settled down for the speeches. As a surprise an owl had been organised to deliver the speech for Sophia’s dad, he certainly made an entrance!  The speeches and food were wonderful and afterwards, Sophia and James took to the dance floor for an amazing choreographed first dance under another fantastic confetti cannon when the party started!

I hope that Sophia and James’ photos prove that there’s no need to worry about the weather on your wedding day. A tip from me would be to plan for rain as well as sun, and choose a venue that can cater to both.

Congratulations Sophia and James on your wonderful wedding day!

Principal Hotel Edinburgh Winter Wedding – Catriona & Lewis

Principal Hotel Edinburgh Winter Wedding

A wonderful crisp Winter’s Day for Catriona and Lewis’ wedding at the Principal Hotel in George Street in the heart of Edinburgh. Such a pretty wedding, stylish and festive and that ballroom looked just magnificent! I do love a Winter Wedding, especially in Edinburgh.

I met up with Cat and the girls during bridal prep and captured all her pretty wedding details and gorgeous flowers.  The ballroom looked magnificent and dressed to perfection by Save The Date Collective with holly, christmas trees and sparkles, to give the perfect Christmas vibe. After an intimate and romantic ceremony with close family and friends, we grabbed a taxi to nearby Queen Street Gardens for some quick photographs, the weather so was so mild and perfect light for our late afternoon portrait session before heading back to join their guests for the reception. I love the peace and quiet and the prettiness of Queen Street Gardens for wedding photographs.  Set in the heart of the New Town it really is the perfect setting!

We even managed to get outside in the early evening in the mild winter weather and capture the Christmas lights at The Dome and George Street. All so festive and twinkly, Edinburgh is pretty at Christmas time and George Street is just perfect as a backdrop to show off those pretty lights.  Definitely gets you in the mood for Christmas.

An amazing day with your lovely family and friends, I had a lovely time with you all!

Congratulations x

Glencorse House Wedding – Becky & Craig

It was lovely to be invited back to Glencorse House to photograph Becky and Craig’s beautiful Glencorse House Wedding!

I met up with beautiful bride Becky at her bridal prep location in Edinburgh The girls were all in the final throws of their wedding prep by talented make up artist Sarah Baldwin, they all looked simply stunning.  I got to work photographing all of Becky’s pretty details and gorgeous flowers.  I loved the soft, muted pastels Becky had chosen to style her wedding.  I get a little giddy when the light is as pretty as it was at Becky’s bridal prep, it was just perfect to compliment Becky’s fine art bridal portraits!

The boys were photographed outside the Kirk by Fiona and after some informal portraits they greeted their guests while Becky made her way to the ceremony accompanied by her ‘maids’ and her proud Dad!  A romantic and touching ceremony with close friends and family and afterwards the happy couple walked out to a spectacular confetti tunnel.  Afterwards, I took Becky and Craig down to the lake for their couple portraits.  I don’t ever take you away from your guests for too long, just enough time to capture some lovely photographs together with some gentle direction and then back to their guests who were busy enjoying a champagne reception on the lawn outside the House.

The marquee was styled to perfection by Roseparks, I adored those pretty pastels and soft creams and tables all named after iconic locations in and around Edinburgh close to Becky and Craig.

We had fabulous weather and Becky you looked simply stunning in your ‘Etienne’ dress by Charlotte Babier.  It was amazing to work with you both we had such a lovely day!  Here’s a few of our favourites!

Abden House Edinburgh Wedding – Jenni & Robert

Abden House Edinburgh Wedding – Jenni & Robert!

Big Congratulations to lovely Jenni and Robert, who married at stunning Abden House, Pollock Halls in the grounds of Edinburgh University. Such a beautiful setting, overlooking Arthurs Seat. Jenni and Robert both attended Edinburgh University, therefore, Abden House was an obvious choice as a wedding venue. I met up with the girls at a very busy bridal prep where Emma Motion MUA was working her magic on pretty Jenni and her bridal party.  Abden House had so many pretty areas to photograph all of Jenni’s flowers and stylish details.

I met up with Robert and the boys in the gardens and captured some relaxed portraits before Jenni and her bridal party walked along to the house for the Ceremony.  The Ceremony was held in the Drawing Room with one of my favourite Humanist Celebrants, Tim Maquire. An intimate and humorous ceremony with close friends and family, followed by a a fantastic confetti throw from all the guests!

You always have to factor in that it might rain at a Scottish Wedding but luckily the rain stayed off until just before the guests at down for dinner and then just as the guests finished their wedding breakfast the most glorious sunshine appeared, perfect timing for some early evening portraits with my lovely couple! What an amazing day! We had sun and we had rain and the most delicious golden hour, I was very happy wedding photographer! If you’re thinking of booking an Abden House Edinburgh wedding, get in touch, I’d love to go back.

Hope you both had a lovely honeymoon and here’s a few of my favourites! x
